On July 11th, I conducted my Subject Matter Expert interview with Shaunak Turaga, a fellow NC State University graduate and one of the founders of BARK & Barbox. It was such a pleasure speaking with him & it was more than I hoped for. It was beyond refreshing to speak with an up & coming entrepreneur that is so open, supportive & willing to give advice. That’s how the world of entrepreneurship should always be! I sighed in relief knowing that the interview went smoothly & that I have hopefully gained my first, real business contact. One step closer to coming into my own!

Employment Law Attorney Jonathan Yarbrough’s Advice on Startup Staffing

Jonathan Yarbrough (Jon), Partner of Constangy, Brooks, Smith & Prophete, LLP in Asheville, North Carolina shares (MP3 file below) his employment law advice for business startups including stories related to the mistakes and issues he’s encountered with startup businesses. Jon stresses,  multiple times during the interview, that founders need to understand and pay attention to wage and hours regulations to help prevent major law suits in the future.

The interview took place last week on September 7th. Prior to the interview Jon shared that he’s also a volunteer mentor for Venture Asheville.
